Common questions

Will the Standesamt accept this translation?
Our birth certificate translations are produced by translators sworn before a German regional court (Landgericht or Oberlandesgericht), to the requirements the Standesamt, Ausländerbehörde, embassies and universities ask for. The decision to accept a document rests with the receiving authority; if it is refused because of an error on our part, we correct it free of charge.
Do I need an apostille as well?
It depends on your country of origin. If your country is part of the Hague Convention, the authority may want an apostille on the original certificate — that is issued by the country that produced it, not by a translator. We cannot arrange one on your behalf yet; it is on our roadmap.
Can you translate birth certificates in Arabic or Turkish?
Yes — Arabic and Turkish are among our most requested source languages for birth certificates. We have dedicated court-sworn translators for both pairs.
What if my birth certificate has handwritten entries?
No problem. Our translators are experienced with handwritten civil records. Upload the clearest scan you can, and note any entries that might be hard to read in the additional requests field.
Do I get a physical copy?
Yes, with Standard or Express. Each of those orders includes one certified original — signed and stamped by the court-sworn translator — posted to your delivery address. You can add up to five additional certified copies at checkout; each is a separately signed and stamped original, not a photocopy. You can also ask for a free scan of your certified translation, emailed as soon as it is ready. The 24-hour Digital tier is the exception: you download the signed and stamped translation as a file, nothing is posted, and additional certified copies are not available.
Who is responsible for the source document?
You are. It's your responsibility to upload an accurate, complete, and legible scan — every page, stamp, and marginal note. We translate exactly what you provide. If your original contains errors or you've left a page off the upload, those issues carry through to the translation.
Do you refund if the authority rejects the translation?
No. The fee covers the production and certification of the translation by a court-sworn translator. Once the work is complete and delivered, it is non-refundable — including in the event that an authority later refuses it. If the rejection is caused by an error on our part, we correct it free of charge and your statutory rights apply. We cannot guarantee acceptance on your behalf; final discretion rests with the receiving body.
