Common questions

Will my translated licence be accepted for Umschreibung?
Our certified translations are produced by court-sworn translators to the requirements Führerscheinstellen (driving licence offices) ask for, and we include the German equivalent classification for all licence categories. The decision to accept it rests with the Führerscheinstelle; if it is refused because of an error on our part, we correct it free of charge.
Does it need to be certified?
Yes. German authorities — including every Führerscheinstelle handling licence conversion (Umschreibung), vehicle registration, and insurance — require a certified translation by a court-sworn translator. All our driving licence translations are certified as standard.
Which licence categories do you translate?
All categories — A, A1, A2, AM, B, BE, C, C1, CE, D, D1, and any country-specific categories. We include the German equivalent classification in the translation.
How long does it take?
Standard certification takes 3–5 business days. Express (48 hours, +€20) and Digital (24 hours, +€40) are available at checkout. Standard and Express include your posted certified original, while Digital is a signed and stamped file to download, with nothing posted. Driving licences are usually short documents, so certification is typically fast.
Do I also need an apostille?
Typically no — a certified translation is sufficient for German authorities. Some non-EU licences may require additional legalisation. Contact us if you're unsure.
What format should I upload?
A clear photo or scan of both sides of your licence. PDF, JPG, or PNG — all work. Make sure all text and the photo are legible.
Who is responsible for the source document?
You are. Upload clear scans of both sides — every category code, every endorsement, every restriction. We translate exactly what we see. If a category or stamp is unreadable in your scan, that's how it'll come through in the translation.
Do you refund if the Führerscheinstelle rejects the translation?
No. The fee covers the production and certification of the translation by a court-sworn translator. Once delivered, it is non-refundable — including if a Führerscheinstelle later refuses it. If the rejection is caused by an error on our part, we correct it free of charge and your statutory rights apply. We cannot guarantee acceptance on your behalf.
